PROFES 2012 will be the 13th gathering of the PROFES community and will take place in Madrid, Spain. Traditionally, PROFES has provided topics, which are up-to-date, important, and interesting. To ensure that PROFES will retain its high standards and that it will keep focusing on the most relevant research issues, we are looking for original research on software engineering aspects addressing products and services in the "Cloud" or "Cyber Physical World". Furthermore, we are looking for case studies reporting on the application of respective methods or technologies in real settings. The technical program will feature keynote talks, research papers, and experience reports on the most relevant topics related to process diversity management. Empirical studies (i.e. experiments, industrial experiences, cases studies, etc.) are welcome. In addition, we will host a number of workshops and tutorials. We will also host a Doctoral Symposium. Details about these events can be found by visiting http://www.grise.upm.es/profes2012/. The proceedings of PROFES 2012 will be published by Springer in the Lecture Notes on Computer Science (LNCS) series http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-0-0-0. The topics of interest in the conference include, but are not restricted to, the following: - Technologies and Methods for challenging all aspects Product and Process Diversity in the Global Markets - Process Patterns - Agile and Lean Processes - Quality models for Systems, Services, and Software - Project management techniques - Software as a service "Cloud" - Software as core of Cyber Physical Systems - Service Engineering Processes - Software Process Improvement (SPI) for Quality Products and Services in Changing Environments; - SPI in Different Areas and Contexts - Process Modeling, Management and Assessment in different or changing environments - Flexible Software Business Models - *-by-design approaches (* being any specific quality attribute, such as privacy, security, safety)" ------------------------------------ SPECIAL THEME: SE in the frame of the Cloud and Cyber-Physical Systems The trend towards the "Cloud" (specifically software as a service), and Cyber-Physical systems are bringing up some new approaches to software development (e.g., MDD). We are looking for original research on processes, methods and tools, tackling technical challenges such as (1) vertical integratability (parallelism, distribution) (2) integration and migration. (3) security and privacy (e.g., * by design) ------------------------------------ SUBMISSION OF TECHNICAL PAPERS AND EXPERIENCE REPORTS All submitted papers will undergo a rigorous peer review process. Papers will be selected based on originality, quality, soundness and relevance. All contributions must be original, not published, accepted or submitted for publication elsewhere. All papers should be submitted in PDF format through Easychair https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=profes2012. The maximum length of the research and experience report papers is 15 pages. Submitted papers must conform to the Springer LNCS layout rules http://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-164-7-72376-0. ------------------------------------ SUBMISSION OF OTHER CONTRIBUTIONS The submission details for the short papers, posters, PhD descriptions and proposals for workshops and tutorials, will be available at the conference website http://www.grise.upm.es/profes2012/. ------------------------------------ EUROMICRO's SPECIAL SESSION This year, PROFES will host a special session organized in collaboration with Euromicro. Participation opportunities and further detail will be published at the will be available at the PROFES 2012 conference website. ------------------------------------ TENTATIVE DATES Paper Submission Deadline: Feb. 3, 2012 Notification of Acceptance: Mar. 2, 2012 Camera-Ready Version: Mar. 16, 2011 ORGANIZING COMMITTEE General Chair: Natalia Juristo, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain Program Committee Co-Chairs: Andreas Jedlitschka, Fraunhofer IESE, Germany Oscar Dieste, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Spain Organizing co-Chairs: Silvia T.
