ABOUT THE CSMR CONFERENCE SERIES
The European Conference on Software Maintenance and Reengineering (CSMR) is
the premier European conference on the theory and practice of maintenance,
reengineering and evolution of software systems. Over the years, it has
attracted high quality papers from both, industry and academia. CSMR
promotes discussion and interaction among researchers and practitioners
about the development of maintainable systems, and the evolution, migration
and reengineering of existing ones. CSMR is not limited to European
participants. Participants from non-European countries are also encouraged
to participate. More information on the history of the CSMR conference and
links to past venues can be found at http://www.csmr.eu
ABOUT CSMR 2010
The increasing globalization of software development and the challenges
derived from parallel projects run by a single organization may require of
adequate methods, such as Product Line Engineering approaches focused on
reuse and relying on appropriate reference architectures which are suitable
for product families that share a set of common features. Moreover, many
organizations are reengineering today their software systems as services,
and web services are playing an important role for the deployment of new
software platforms and systems, and they are perceived as a new market
opportunity for small and large organzations. Therefore, organizations
dealing with these new challenges demand to adapt the traditional software
development, maintenance, and reengineering techniques to cater the needs of
large software systems development. At CSMR 2010, we discuss these
questions and derive answers. We advance the state of the art and help to
mature the state of the practice. Enjoy this year's conference with its high
quality technical program, benefit from interesting and fruitful
discussions, exchange your experiences, meet old friends and make new ones.

It promotes discussion and interaction among researchers and practitioners about the development of maintainable systems, and the evolution, migration and reengineering of the existing ones. CSMR 2010 will feature up to 10 technical research paper sessions, full-day and half-day workshops, an industry paper track, a tool demonstration track, a doctoral symposium and a special track on European research projects within the field of software maintenance and reengineering. CSMR 2010 is sponsored by the Reengineering Forum (REF) with technical co-sponsorship from the IEEE Computer Society and the IEEE technical Council on Software Engineering (TCSE) and participation from Universidad rey Juan Carlos (URJC) and Universidad Polit=C3=A9cnica of Madrid (UPM). TOPICS We solicit submissions, not limited to, on the following topics of interest to the maintenance and reengineering community: - Tools and methods to support software architecture and product lines evolution - Techniques and approaches for software analysis, comprehension, and reconstruction - Process models for software maintenance, reengineering, and evolution - Experience reports and empirical studies on maintenance, reengineering, and evolution - Evaluation and assessment of reverse engineering and reengineering tools - Experiences on the role of global software development in distributed maintenance teams - Description of education-related issues to evolution, maintenance and reengineering - Case studies on maintenance and evolution of Service Oriented Architecture-based systems - Mechanisms and techniques for reengineering systems as services PUBLICATION AND TYPES OF SUBMISSION Technical Research Papers: Research papers should describe original and significant work in the research and practice of software maintenance and reengineering. Theoretical results, case studies, empirical research and experiments are particularly welcome (10 proceeding pages). Workshop Proposals: Workshop proposals should include the names and affiliations of the organizers, a description of the topic, the intended audience, and the proposed format of the session. Once the proposal is accepted the organizers should submit a paper describing the nature of the workshop area, related work, and its anticipated impact (2 proceeding pages). Industry Track Papers: The industry track papers should discuss industrial practice and experience reports describing problems (and their solutions) encountered in real applications. (2 proceedings pages). Tool Demonstration Track Papers: Tool demonstration track papers should include information on the theory, models, and infrastructure of the demonstrated tool. Challenges related to the use and adoption of the demonstrated tool should also be included (2 proceeding pages). Doctoral Symposium Papers: This year, the doctoral symposium track wants to attract PhD students who have just started their research and they are able to present preliminary work in progress or ideas that have not been fully validated. PhD candidates with more solid work or in the latest stages of their research are also invited to submit a proposal. The papers should describe a summary of their research (4 proceeding pages). European Project Track Papers: The European track papers should give an overview on ongoing or recently completed projects (both national and international) in Europe related to maintenance and/or reengineering (4 proceeding pages).
