Subject: [SEWORLD] CFP - ISEC 2010

ISEC 2010
3rd India Software Engineering Conference
Mysore, Feb 25-27, 2010

Call For Papers

The ISEC conference is the main yearly conference of the newly created
Special Interest Group on Software Engineering, SIGSE (
www.cse.iitd.ac.in/sigse/) under the umbrella of the Computer Society of
India. The Third ISEC will be held in Infosys Mysore campus, host to one of
the world’s largest education centres. ISEC will bring together researchers
and practitioners from across the world to share the results of their work.
We invite technical papers describing original and unpublished results of
conceptual, empirical, and experimental software engineering research and
practice. Thus research papers that demonstrate a practical impact and
papers describing Industry Experiences that connect theory and research to
practice are especially welcome. Our goal is to provide a forum for
researchers and practitioners from both academia and industry to meet and
share cutting-edge advancements in the field of software engineering. All
submissions should clearly identify their contribution to the state of the
art and their potential usefulness. Work that has appeared elsewhere (in
some conference or journal) cannot be submitted for ISEC. Work that is
currently under consideration elsewhere (a conference or a journal) also
cannot be submitted. Submissions are invited broadly in all aspects of
software engineering, including but not limited to, the following:

- Requirements Engineering - Testing and Static Analysis
- Empirical Software Engineering and Metrics - Specification and Verification
- Software Performance Engineering - Model driven Software engineering
- Software Architecture and Design - Tools and Environments
- Development Paradigms and Processes - Maintenance and Evolution
- People issues in Software Engineering - Quality Management
- Component Based Software Engineering - Object-Oriented Technology
- Service oriented software engineering - Distributed software development
- Case Studies and Industrial Experience
- Cloud Computing and Software Engg - Software as a Service
-Knowledge based Software Engg
-Agent oriented Software Engg

In cooperation with ACM SIGSOFT, some of the best papers from the flagship
conferences FSE (Symposium on Foundations of Software Engg) and ICSE
(International Conference on Software Engineering) will be presented as
Keynotes/Invited papers in ISEC.

Paper Submission

Research Paper submissions will be reviewed and evaluated based on
originality, technical quality, and relevance to conference. Submission of
papers will be carried out electronically via the Web in PDF format.
Research Papers should not exceed ten pages, and follow ACM SIG guidelines:
http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html . We plan to have the
proceedings published through ACM and have it available in ACM Digital
library. There are also plans to bring out a special issue in some journal
of repute. Please visit
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=isec2010 to submit your paper.

Experience Reports

Experience reports are not meant to report new results or new knowledge but
describe some interesting experience that is not clear or known. It could be
on experience with some technology or methodology, or anything else. A clear
connection of theory and research to practice, is expected to be
demonstrated. An experience report is expected to give a brief description
of current state of practice in the chosen problem to motivate the
importance of what is being discussed, describe the approach or experiment,
and must clearly document the benefits or reasons why the experience should
be of interest to readers. The paper should also cite some key references in
theoretical and other work on that problem and relate the work done to the
existing theories and concepts in that problem area. An experience report is
generally not very useful if it merely describes "this is how we did it" -
proper context, motivation, comparison, and references must be provided.
Experience reports should also follow the ACM format and must be no more
than 10 pages long. Please visit
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=isec2010 to submit your
experience report, Prefix “Experience Report” to your title.

Posters

Posters Short work-in-progress papers describing an incomplete yet powerful
idea, both in area of research as well as experience, are welcome,
restricted to not more than 2 full size papers. Please visit
http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=isec2010 to submit your poster,
Prefix “Poster” to your title.
Demos We invite practitioners and researchers to submit interesting demos,
as part of the conference. Interested participants can submit a 2-page
abstract of the demo http://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=isec2010 to
submit your poster, Prefix “Demo” to your title. Demo participants are
expected to bring their own laptops (Net access provided)

Tutorials

There will be a limited number of tutorials in the conference. Proposals for
tutorials, including about two paragraphs on proposed topic, its relevance
to SE audience, and details of presenter, may be sent to the tutorial chair.

Student Symposium

This symposium is directed at The symposium is open to the students of
M.Tech program (in second year) or PhD program (after 3rd year). The student
(with approval from adviser) needs to submit a viewgraph /proposal of about
5 pages with the detailed proposal covering motivation and background for
the work and importance of the topic, status of current and future work,
alongside providing a review of the literature highlighting the research
gaps and the positioning of your work w.r.t the current art. Also include a
outline of the work including a rigorous analysis of the work highlighting
the novelty/originality/innovativeness of your work.
This is an excellent forum for the student to get feedback from the
researchers and industry professionals in the field, not to mention the
possibility of opportunity to work with research groups in industry and
academia. Please contact symposium chair for any additional details.
