Conference Venue:
The conference will be held at The Empress Chiangmai Hotel, Chiangmai,
Thailand.
Chiangmai is Thailand's second largest city and the capital of the
northern region which is located approximately 700 km by road from
Bangkok. Founded in 1296, this city remains the gateway to the country's
north, where there are numerous hill tribes living in the mountainous
districts surrounding the city. Over 50% of Chiangmai is covered by
mountains and forests. From these mountains originate several tributaries
feeding into important rivers and most importantly, the irrigation canals
which provide the water necessary to Chiangmai's agriculture. The most
important river is the Ping, which originates in the mountains of Chiang
Dao and flows southward for 540 km where along its banks Chiangmai’s flat,
fertile valley lies. Due to its mild weather, it is a favorite retreat for
both locals and visitors alike to escape the summer heat of Bangkok and is
the base whereby most travelers stopover before beginning their trek into
the northern mountains.
