==> 9th EuroPVM/MPI & 4th DAPSYS Conference <==
Johannes Kepler University Linz, Austria
September 29-October 02, 2002
http://www.gup.uni-linz.ac.at/pvmmpi or http://www.gup.uni-linz.ac.at/dapsys
The 9th EuroPVM/MPI conference will be jointly organized with the 4th
Austrian-Hungarian Workshop on Distributed and Parallel Systems (DAPSYS) at
the Johannes Kepler University Linz. Participants of the two events will
share invited talks, tutorials, vendor sessions, and social events, while
contributed paper presentations will go on in separate tracks in parallel.
While EuroPVM/MPI is dedicated to the latest developments of PVM and MPI,
DAPSYS is expected to be a major event to discuss general aspects of
parallel and distributed systems. In this way the two events are complement
to each other and participants of the 9th EuroPVM/MPI conference can benefit
from the joint organization of the two events.
More details about these two events can be found at
http://www.gup.uni-linz.ac.at/pvmmpi

Participants of the two events will share invited talks, tutorials and social events. Contributed paper presentations will go on in separate tracks in parallel. While EuroPVM/MPI is dedicated to the latest developments of PVM and MPI, DAPSYS is expected to be a major event to discuss general aspects of distributed and parallel systems. In this way they are complement to each other and participants of the DAPSYS 2002 workshop can benefit from the joint organization of the two events. Selected papers of DAPSYS'96 have been published in a special issue (Vol. 22, No. 3. February 1997) of Parallel Computing. Best papers of DAPSYS'98 (Budapest) were also published in Future Generation Computer Systems (Vol. 16, No. 6., April 2000). Selected papers on tools and environments of DAPSYS 2000 are being published in Parallel and Distributed Computing Practice. Following this tradition a special issue on DAPSYS 2002 of an international journal is planned. SCOPE DAPSYS 2002 is expected to be a major event for vendors, researchers and teachers to consider present and future topics in distributed and parallel systems. Papers presenting original research, educational methods, new concepts, and results of international projects are being sought. Papers describing clusters, grids, metacomputing and the related fields are especially welcome. Typical, but not exclusive, topics include: * Parallel and Distributed Algorithms * Languages, Tools and Environments * Parallel and Distributed Databases * Clusters and Grids * Computer Architectures * Applications * Mobile Computing * Operating Systems * Web Computing * Metacomputing * Distributed OO Systems * Middlewares SUBMISSION OF PAPERS Contributors are invited to submit a full paper not exceeding 8 pages in English. The title page should contain a 100-word abstract and five specific keywords. DAPSYS 2002 accepts submissions only in electronic format sent by 6 May 2002 via a webform at the following URL: http://www.gup.uni-linz.ac.at/dapsys In case of any problems with this submission procedure, please contact dapsys@gup.jku.at. At present, the University of Linz features a SGI Origin 3800 with 128 processors, the fastest academic and research supercomputer of Austria (Position 350, 17th Top500, June 2001). Additional highlights are a room-sized, 3-dimensional CAVE Virtual Reality Center and the Wireless Campus Project. The university campus is located on the border of the city of Linz, a 200.000 inhabitants town on both sides of the river Danube. Linz offers the visitor a mixture of typical Austrian historic sites, well-known industry, and established cultural aspects. Around the time of the conference, Linz presents the respected Ars Electronica, the Cloud of Sound, and the Bruckner Festival. Situated in the middle of Europe, Linz is close to Vienna (190 km), Salzburg (130 km), Prague (240 km), Munich (270 km), and Budapest (440 km), and can easily be reached from most major European airports (Frankfurt, Zurich, Amsterdam).
