 Symposium on Software Reusability(SSR' 01)
 CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
 18-20 May 2001
 Toronto, Canada
 http://www.abitmore.be/ssr2001/

 Co-Located with

 the 2001 International Conference
 on Software Engineering (ICSE-01)
 ===========================================================

Come join us at the Software Engineering Week in Toronto during May 2001.

Reuse is by nature context sensitive. This symposium focuses on three
 interrelated contexts:
 - reuse within software engineering as a whole,
 - reuse within product family engineering,
 - and reuse within different organizational environments.

SSR' 01 adopts a "working conference" format. Each session will be
followed with a moderated and in-depth discussion about the presented
 research to foster further exchange.

 ==========================================================
SSR?01 Features three distinguished keynote speakers:

Mark Perlin, CEO, Cybergenetics, Pittsburgh, PA, USA:
Dewayne Perry, University of Texas at Austin, USA:
Ruben Prieto-Diaz Financial Systems Architects Fairfax, VA, USA
 ==========================================================
Five Professional development seminars (tutorials) are offered as following:

PD1: Don Batory, University of Texas at Austin, USA:
 Enterprise Component Technologies

PD2: Grady Campbell, Prosperity Heights Software, Inc., USA:
Process Improvement for Software Product Lines

PD3: Jean-Marc DeBaud, TrueScope Technologies, Inc., USA:
A Full Life-cycle Approach to the Development of Software Product Families

PD4: Fred Maymir-Ducharme, IBM Corp., USA:
The Role of Standards & Middleware in Architecting Large Systems

PD5: Henk Obbink, Philips Research B.V., Netherlands:
COPA: A Component-Oriented Platform Architecting Method
for Families of Software Intensive Electronic Products

 ==========================================================
Two exiting panels are organized to discuss the latest issues on software
reuse:

Panel I: Where Should We Invest for Reusability to Live Up to Its Potential?

Panel II: Is Software Engineering Mature Enough To Embrace Reuse

SSR'01
Symposium Theme: Putting Software Reuse in Context
The Symposium on Software Reusability is a bi-annual forum, held in
conjunction with the International Conference on Software Engineering,
for the exchange of ideas, research and development results, and
experiences in all aspects of software reusability. Reuse is by nature
quite context sensitive. This symposium focuses on three interrelated
contexts: Reuse within software engineering as a whole, within product
family engineering, and within different organizational environments.

SSR'01 adopts a 'working conference' format. Each session will be
followed with a moderated and in-depth discussion about the presented
research to foster further exchange.

SSR'01 invites you to submit unpublished, original state-of-the-art and
state-of-the-practice work to share with the software reuse community in
particular, and the larger community of software engineering in general.
We are seeking papers ranging from research reports of technology
transfer, applications, and experiences relevant to any aspect of
software reusability, focusing on this year's theme but also including:

  Application Generators
  Product Family Engineering
  Patterns and Frameworks
  Case Studies and Experience
  Parameterized Programming
  Component Repositories
  Program Transformation
  Domain Engineering
  Quantification and Metrics
  Re-& Reverse Engineering
  Internet-Based Reuse
  Interface Issues
  Industrial Experiences/Assessments
  Reuse Environments
  Reuse Process
  Organizational and Legal Issues
  Software Architecture & Systemic Reuse
  Component Based Engineering
  Software Classification and Identification
  COTS and Component Brokers
  Partial Evaluation and Reuse
  Computational Reflection and Reuse
  Program Slicing/Dicing and Reuse
  Domain Specific Languages

GUIDELINES FOR SUBMISSION
Submit an electronic version (preferred) or 6 copies of a regular paper
(maximum 6000 words) or a concise paper (maximum 3000 words) to the
Symposium Program Chair by October 27, 2000. All papers, whether
regular or concise, should clearly indicate what is new and significant
about the work being presented and should consist of material not
previously published or currently being considered for another forum.
Electronic submission in PDF format is strongly encouraged. Additional
information as well as detailed instructions on submission can be found
at the upcoming SSR web page:

	http://www.phvriens.com/ssr2001/

Each paper, regular or concise, should include a separate cover sheet
containing the title of the paper, author(s), affiliation(s), and
complete address (including phone and fax numbers and e-mail) of the
contact person. Include also a list of up to four relevant topical
areas. We are also seeking proposals for panel discussions and
tutorials. Refer to the web site for additional information.
