ASSET Expanding Interoperation
As the software reuse marketplace continues to grow and reusable software assets become more prevalent, more libraries will be available over the internet. A distributed network of reuse libraries will provide users access to a large number of assets around the world while providing the user with his or her library interface of choice. As this capability is being developed by groups such as the Reuse Library Interoperability Group (RIG), the DoD, and private industry, ASSET is busy connecting to other libraries. ASSET has recently begun interoperation with the Ada Information Clearinghouse (AdaIC) and is now interoperating with three libraries, Comprehensive Approach to Reusable Defense Software (CARDS), Defense Software Reuse System (DSRS), and AdaIC. By the beginning of September, ASSET will also be interoperating with Electronic Library Services and Applications (ELSA, formerly AdaNET). CARDS and DSRS interoperation are bidirectional while AdaIC and ELSA currently are unidirectional (ASSET users have access to AdaIC and ELSA assets). We will continue to expand this capability by increasing the number of assets available among the cooperating libraries and to incorporate additional libraries.

In addition, ASSET continues to change as technology advances. We have created the ASSET World Wide Web pages which are available to the internet public through the ASSET Welcome page using the URL "http://source.asset.com/". We will be expanding this capability and its functionality as we improve our user interface, develop our advertising line of business, and head into electronic commerce.
