MiNEMA is an European Science Foundation (ESF) Scientific Programme aiming to bring
together European groups from different communities working on middleware for mobile
environment. The programme intends to foster the definition and implementation of
widely recognized middleware abstractions for new and emerging mobile applications.
Aim of the workshop
The aim of this second workshop is to foster further collaboration between existing
MiNEMA members, and to advertise and widen participation in the MiNEMA network.
Research will be presented both by young and senior researchers in the field. Both reviews
of finished work, as well as work in progress on new research are expected to create
a dynamic programme which should be the basis for fruitful discussions and new collaborations.
In addition to the scientific programme, the 6th meeting of the MiNEMA steering committee
will be co-hosted at this event.
Participation
Participation in the workshop will be by invitation based on the submission of a position paper or research paper,
or through special consideration. We do not plan to publish formal proceedings.
Potential participants may submit requests for invitation under three categories:
1. Research Paper
Research papers should present new, still preliminary (!) research on middleware for mobile environment
(3-5 pages - to be reviewed by three members of the PC, and posted on the website).
2. Topic
If you're a student who is relatively new to the world of middleware for mobile
applications, or a researcher with some questions left unanswered, then this option
is for you. A study topic identifies potentially open questions in the domain, and
sets out a plan for how to answer those questions during the workshop - based on
a presentation (3 pages, maximum).
3. Lessons Learned
Researchers are also invited to provide a summary of complete research tracks and/or
projects. This work can be submitted by sending a position paper (3-5 pages - to be reviewed by three members of the PC, and posted on the website),
optionally complemented with a report or reference to an existing publication describing
the work.
Topics of Interest
Include, but are not limited to:
- Communication paradigms, group communication
- Publish/subscribe systems
- Ad hoc networking and routing
- Coordination protocols
- Middleware architecture
- Adaptation

- Multimedia support and applications
- Performance
